I am a Senior at Veterans Memorial High School in Mission, Texas. This past year I was the Junior Class Vice President of Marketing and also part of the Year Book staff and I am active in many of aspects of academic and athletic fundraising and event planning at the 1,900 enrollment school and the 85,000 population city where I live. I have also been a life long member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. My older brother graduated from Texas A&M in College Station, Texas and my older sister graduated from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. They, as well as my parents, have guided me since I was a child and have instilled a sense of community and achievement in me. My academic goal is to graduate from college and to pursue an advanced degree. My athletic goal is to play golf at the collegiate level and be a member of a successful team. I started playing golf in the summer of 2012, at the age of 11. In 2013, I earned an exemption and played in the STPGA Junior Tour Spring Championships at the Apple Rock course in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. In 2015, as a 14 year old, I earned an exemption and played in the STPGA Junior Tour Summer Championships at the Palmer Course at The Woodlands, Texas. In my freshman year in High School, I was the fourth man on the varsity golf team and received 31-5A All District Honorable Mention Honors. Last year, as a sophomore, I placed ninth in District and received All District 31-5A Honors. My team also advanced to the 5A Regional Championships in San Antonio, Texas where we placed 5th without a key player on the roster. The number one and two players on this team are now on College golf rosters. I have dedicated all summer to improve my golf game (swing, putting, club selection, and course management) with my swing coach. As a result, now in my Junior year, I am the captain and number one player on my high school team. I made First Team All-District and qualified for the 5-A Regional Golf Tournament, where i finished 14th out of 96 players. I missed going to the State Tournament by 3 strokes. I will start this summer playing the STPGA tournaments and improving for my senior year.
