As an athlete and a good student in the classroom, I feel that I have the perseverance and mental capacity to handle any challenge I come across on the golf course and in life. My best accomplishments in golf so far are my hole-in-one (on 2 different occasions), my first round under par, and winning my first tournament in my freshman year. As a part-time employee at the local country club in my hometown, I am learning the skill of time management while juggling school, work, practice, and tournament play.
Playing golf has taught me preparation, emotional control, to earn my own things, and patience; or as many people would sum it up – discipline. Discipline is required everywhere in life. You need it to prepare correctly for a big tournament, to control your emotions and to be patient in frustrating or stressful times. It might also be needed while at work to help get through and finish the job. Discipline alone will not bring success in the game of golf, which is why I have a strong ambition to improve every day. By applying this discipline and ambition to my life every day, I feel that I am prepared to make a solid addition to any college golf team!
