Hello, my name is Dawson Williams.
I am an elite level goal scoring power forward with excellent speed, shot and vision.
Growing up in the UK I discovered hockey quite late going to my first game when I was 12. I was instantly hooked and fell in love with every aspect of the game. I did some research into local clubs and found there was just one. Cardiff Jr Devils. I joined the club and had to work hard to catch up with my peers who'd been playing for many years.
In my first year of U15 I was awarded alternate captain and was top points and top goal scorer in the division. I then made the decision with my family to move to Canada so that I could pursue hockey at a higher level. After saying many sad goodbye's to my team mates who had become my best friends we moved to Calgary in Alberta In December 2019.
Three months after we landed the pandemic closed the country and hockey was, for quite a while, over. I made the decision to double down and make the best of a bad situation and train as hard as I could off ice. Stick handling, shooting, strength and conditioning , getting out on my rollers as much as I could and working on my mental game. When hockey returned I earned a spot on one of the best U15 teams in Calgary.
In 2021 we moved so Southern California and I played AAA for Anaheim Ice Dogs and High School Varsity.
I am now playing for Yellowstone Quake in the NA3HL. i'm very proud to be a part of the team.
What I have learned so far about myself is that I can work hard to achieve my goals. I never give up, and even after experiencing set-backs and disappointments both on and off the ice, I keep going.
My academic goal is to be the best student I can be, to learn and achieve. My academics have improved hugely since moving to Canada and I will continue to grow and achieve further academic success as I begin my schooling in Southern California. My goal is to attend an NCAA college and study law while playing hockey.
My hockey goal is to go as far as I can in the sport and ultimately play pro hockey.
I feel I have a unique perspective on the game as I discovered hockey and began my playing career the UK and now live, learn and play in North America. My path has been anything but typical and I've experienced hockey as a minority sport in the UK with the struggles and challenges that represents and also hockey as a major sport in the US and Canada with its many opportunities and benefits.
if you’d like to reach out I‘d be very happy to talk to you about hockey, academics or anything else. I'm very open to camp invites and tournaments across North America and Europe.
