In my 12 years of playing hockey, I’ve learned to adapt to new environments, produce on special teams, while simultaneously maintaining good grades and high aspirations for my future.
When playing in Prague, we were given two days to meet and trust our new teammates from around the globe. Despite the language barrier with some of the players, we were able to click and become an effective, efficient hockey team that defeated some of the best ‘04 European Elite teams, taking home the bronze medal.
My varsity coaches consistently utilize my abilities to score goals and kill penalties on the special teams. When given time and space on the powerplay, I can capitalize on quality shooting lanes and score goals.
For four years I have also been a USAH referee, which allows a deeper understanding of the rules, builds relationships with others in my community, and brings a different aspect to my individual game.
Off the ice, I stay focused in the classroom to progress my education and interests in the business and medical aspects of sports. I utilized the electives option at my school to take classes in Kinesiology and Economics to further pursue these goals. I am also currently registered for a Kinesiology course at my local community college. At school, I also enjoy science classes such as Chemistry and Marine Biology, and I’m looking forward to taking Honors Biology and Organic Chemistry classes next semester. I hope to major in a related field and eventually earn a Masters in one of these topics.
