My name is Maxime Santander, and I am eager to pursue both my academic and athletic goals at the collegiate level. I discovered hockey at almost 12 years old when my family moved from France to Canada, and I quickly fell in love with the sport. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, which halted regular seasons for nearly two years, I continued to train intensely. My dedication paid off as I progressed from PeeWee-C to finishing the season in Bantam AA, and I am now playing in 18U-AAA with the Norwich Hockey Club. This progression demonstrates my commitment and resilience, and I am determined to reach the highest level in hockey.
I believe my journey reflects my character and my determination to improve and achieve my goals both on and off the ice. As a player, I bring leadership, teamwork, and a relentless work ethic to any team I join. I always give my 110%.
Academically, I am really interested in Marine Biology and 20th-century history. While I am fully aware that these are two distinct fields, I am still exploring my academic interests and wish to give myself the time to evolve and make a well-informed decision. I am committed to excelling in my studies and contributing meaningfully to the university community. Additionally, inspired by my mother’s deep involvement in helping others, I have volunteered with community organizations, which has strengthened my commitment to service—a value I plan to carry into my university experience.
Balancing academics and athletics at the collegiate level is undoubtedly challenging, but I am determined to prove myself as an excellent student and a valuable player for the team. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to grow, both as an athlete and a scholar, and I am confident that my dedication and passion will make a positive impact.
