John Davison Williams '26 Recruiting Profile

Growing up in Orlando, FL, the sports I tried were not for me.  I thought baseball and soccer were too slow.  When I moved to Utah at age 6, I found Winter sports, which moved at a much faster pace.  It ended up I followed in my Fathers footsteps and chose hockey over freestyle skiing.  With hockey I had a huge mental and physical growth.  The coaches were really pushing me to dig deeper and find more within myself.  I learned to show up even when I didn't want to.  I had a team depending on me.   I have been honored with the distinction of team captain for both my u12 and u14 major years.  This hockey work ethic, along with my Mom pushing me, helped me overcome my severe dyslexia.  Science, Math, History and Technology became much easier for me to understand.  Now, I want to find a university and keep expanding my academic horizon while playing hockey at highly competitive level.  Becoming an elite hockey player did not come naturally to me.  It has and is taking determination and perseverance.  I plan to continue to use those aspects to achieve a higher level, both in sport and school.
