Personal Statement
For me, hockey has taught me many valuable life lessons. Every since I was younger, I enjoyed learning how to skate on the ponds near my house. This then led into me becoming more involved with a local hockey club. Playing this game has taught me how to be a good teammate, a leader, and the what type of dedication it takes to achieve success. Not only has this sport challenged me day in and day out on the ice, but it has also shown me what it takes to become a better person. I have learned that playing a team sport, you have to put your teammates before yourself and that teammates are like a second family. As a student-athlete, I have learned how to balance my life and how to manage my time that is involving school, hockey, and my family. To this day, the season that taught me the most valuable lessons was when I was appointed team captain during my Bantam year. That year, I learned the importance of leadership and that my teammates are always looking up to me to lead by example. On top of having a strong work ethic, these were just a few characteristics that I have developed over the course of my hockey career thus far to apply to real-life situations.
As I look forward to the future, I know hockey is a lifestyle. In life, dedication is necessary for every part of it whether it is school or hockey. As I move forward I am looking for a school that fits my academic needs as well as my athletic goals. I am different from other recruits because I am a leader, a team-first player, and someone who will not stop working until my goal is completed. My goal is to play at your school and become an asset for you in the classroom and on the ice.
