Hello, my name is Matthew Czalij. I am currently 17 years of age and play goalie for Fort Erie International Academy which is close to Niagara Falls for location reference. I am standing at 6'5 and weigh 225lbs. I am from Toronto, Ontario, and have always been around hockey my whole life. I am very passionate and devoted to hockey while also my schooling where I have won numerous academic awards for my efforts.
The thing I possess that makes me a good candidate for a hockey program/team is that I am very hardworking. Whether it's in hockey or in the classroom I always put 100% into my work. My coaches and teammates can agree that I am never satisfied with average. I want to be the best and no less. Another reason why I am considered to be a good candidate is that my communication and leadership skills are like no other. In the classroom, I want everyone to succeed and deliver their best piece of work. On the ice, I possess various attributes to alert and voice options on how my teammates are doing and give advice on how to improve overall. I want everyone to be the best version of themselves.
The thing that makes me different from other recruits is my ability to address my stress. Week and week me and my team play very good teams all over Canada. These teams are way older than me and also my team and having the ability to not only calm myself but also my team to understand the assignment ahead. I always look for the positive in things whether that's in hockey or in society as a whole. I am what they say "Gentle Giant" due to me being super tall and very nice to all the people I am around. I am respectful, athletic, humorous, and want my family to be proud and show all the people who doubted me they made a huge mistake.
