Personal Statement
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.”
I was not raised on hockey; it was not until my grandparents took me to Niagra Falls six years ago and bought me a $30.00 stick.
When I came home, I told my mom that I wanted to play hockey, and that weekend we went to the nearest rink and enrolled in the Learn to Skate class. After the class, my mom asked me what I thought, and I told her that I want to play hockey.
Within a few weeks, I had all my gear, which my papal found used, and I was going to my first practice.
That moment when I stepped on the ice, I felt something inside me, a drive to learn, grow, and conquer something. I was going to play hockey.
The next few years, I spent all my free time watching YouTube videos, reading, and going to the rink, teaching myself necessary hockey skills.
As far as camps and private lessons, I live in an area where hockey is not popular; therefore, my mom and I would pack up my twin brothers and drive everywhere.
I have played for different levels of teams, but for the last 2.5 years, I found my match with a local high school team and a great coach who can bring out my talents.
My team went to nationals for the past three years. Of course, last year was canceled due to COVID.
On the days I don’t have practices, workout, or have games, I help with my nine-year-old brothers (twins). I also enjoy working on cars and hanging around the house.
I look forward to answering any questions.
Kind regards,
