Hockey for me is more than just a sport. Playing hockey as a kid and growing up with it by my side has taught me so many important lessons about hard work, being a great friend/teammate and in general teaching me about life. I have played with a myriad of teams and teammates and both have given me many opportunities to improve on and off the ice. I’ve been fortunate to have been on both a winning team that has gone undefeated and a young high school varsity team that remained winless through my freshman season. Playing on both teams in my young hockey career have taught be both what it takes to win/be a champion and the mental obstacles that come with backstopping a struggling team. Both I consider huge building blocks to me as a player and person.
Right now I play Midget AAA and I have been the starting goalie on my high school varsity team for the last 2 years. I remain calm in big situations and provide great puck playing ability. I am very mentally tough as I believe it is the most important skill any athlete can have. I also play much larger than my size by understanding angles and coming far out to play a shot if I know the shot is guaranteed.
