I am a great candidate for a team which focuses on character, teamwork, and grit, as much as they focus on talent and skill. I stand out from other goalies because I understand and embrace productive struggle. My path has not been easy, nor have I always played on a winning team. I do not give up when my team is down, and I do not make excuses. I have a proven performance record in high pressure and intense situations. I love to be challenged and go up against the best there is out there. I am coachable, inspirational, and I have a growth mindset. I am very lucky to have a supportive family, and could not be the person I am today without them. My family has ensured I have all of the tools and resources in place to work on my craft and be the best student-athlete I can be. I enjoy math, science, and industrial tech, and plan to major in engineering in college.
I believe being a goalie has been an integral part of my success in life. I was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder when I was six. I struggled in school and was extremely impulsive. It was not until I put on goalie pads that I was able to really focus for the first time. Structure, disciplined training, team mindset, and the patience required by my position have taught me how to focus and use my ADHD to my advantage. Ralph Engelstad said it best, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
