Marcis Bikse '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Marcis. I was born in Latvia, where at the age of 5 I started training in hockey. As a child, I played in the Dinamo Riga children's and youth team. This club had many opportunities to participate not only in the Latvian championship, but also in various international hockey tournaments. In these tournaments, I became convinced that I wanted to play at a high level, so I have to work hard to achieve this goal.

I have played for the Latvian U16 amd U20 National team in several tournaments. As a member of Latvia Selects, I have participated in World Selects Invitational tournaments  3 years in a row. 

At the age of 14 I passed the selection at the Swedish club Frolunda Indians, so I moved to Sweden. Here I continue to develop my hockey skills, because in Sweden both the training process and the manner of playing are different than in Latvia. I have learned a lot during these years in Sweden. 

Living in Sweden, I continue to study at a Latvian distance learning school with good success. In addition, I also completed Swedish elementary school. This year I also started studies at Nebraska University High School distance education class to better prepare for college. 

In the future, I want to study in America and continue to play hockey in a college club. This would be a great opportunity to get a good education and do what I love.
