As I continue pursuing my goals in academics and hockey, Faith, family, friends and teammates have been a great source for me to find the confidence in myself to approach and overcome challenges. My personal commitment to self-improvement through a strong work ethic, both on and off the ice, have shaped me into the person that I am today. I know that achievements are not handed out, but are earned through hard work and dedication, in addition to supportive relationships through that process. Part of being a successful person includes being a well-rounded individual in all aspects of life.

I developed my love for ice hockey through following the Philadelphia Flyers and watching my uncle play ice hockey in his college years through his time in the minor leagues. After several years of participating in organized street hockey, I realized that my true passion for the sport was leading me to begin playing ice hockey. While I was first told by individuals within the organization that I was “too old” to begin playing ice hockey at the age of 13, I took that as a challenge. In addition to attending daily practices, working with a goalie coach in personal sessions and attending goalie camps to improve myself, I have each subsequent year progressed to a higher league of play up to the level of AAA Tier I just a few years later.

My experience through hockey of being told that “I cannot do this or that” is something that I also carry over to my academics and personal life experiences.  As I set my sights on college, I maintain a strong discipline of time management with my personal schedule. As with sports, I am pushing myself in school by signing up for advanced placement and honors classes while maintaining a strong grade point average. I am looking for a college or university that will provide me the resources to develop my interests in pursuing a career in engineering and an opportunity to play competitive collegiate hockey.
