Michael Ranaldi '19 Recruiting Profile

I've played hockey since I was 4 years old and I'm currently playing on the North Jersey Avalanche AAA 16u. I've always been a leader, especially with hockey, I'm one of the captains on my club team and a starter on my high school varsity squad since I was a freshman. I understand the game and adapt quickly, I'm very proud of my ability to learn quickly on and off the ice. Being loyal to my team is also something I'm proud of. In my entire hockey career, I've only played for 2 Club organizations because I formed a bond with the coaches and players at that organization. And in my current organization, the North Jersey Avalanche, I've only had 2 different coaches in 6 years with the club. I'm a gritty player and I'm always looking to make the right play for my team, not the right play for me. That is evident in my stats almost every season I have more assists than goals. But the thing I'm most proud of in my game is being defensively aware and making good plays on defense, again it's not the flashiest and a nice body positioning to take away the passing lane doesn't show up on the stat sheet but it keeps my team ahead. I understand that I couldn't get ahead without a team, and I will always put the team before myself even if that means not getting the limelight. But always before hockey is academics. Hockey is a wonderful sport but my main priority, until I am out of school, is to do well in school. I have a great passion for business seeing as both of my parents are premier businessmen I grew up learning that relentlessness and learning from failures are the greatest lessons I can learn in both business and the hockey world.
