For years playing hockey has become one of the most important facets of my life, for I am constantly striving to become a greater, well-rounded player. It has been a dream of mine to compete at the collegiate level and I am open to all schools of all levels. An attribute I have that sets me apart from most other athletes is my thirst for more knowledge of the game. For example, in the spring of 2017, I joined a new organization to play defense, a position with which, I had not yet been acquainted. Being a U16 and playing in a U18 league with a new organization and a new position has definitely broadened my horizons and has given me a more privileged perspective for the game which has allowed me to appreciate other aspects of hockey.
After the half season ended in November, I had the opportunity to go back to the Mercer Chiefs and become a part of their U18 National team which has been a spectacular experience being able to compete with the older athletes. My ability to be team oriented and put my body on the line in front of shots made me a top three forward on that team.
My success in the classroom has been because of my will to be the best and study every night.
In my Senior year I decided to challenge myself by taking all AP classes. These classes have forced me to take on a higher role of responsibility. Being able to excel in these classes has motivated me to work even harder on the ice and in the gym. Seeing my potential in the classroom has been crucial to my success in the rest of my life.
Furthermore, I was honored in my sophomore year, to be accepted into peer leadership which has taught me, through experience, how to be an outstanding role model for my peers and to make decisions that will benefit me throughout college life and propel me into the future so that I can become an empathetic and successful man.
Being a peer leader entails leading a group of freshman into constructive discussion about acclimating themselves to high school and finding things that potentially interest them. I am also a part of Hamilton N.E.W.s which is an organization that combines all three of the high schools in my district and unifies them.
Music has also been an extremely important part of my life that has helped mold the person I have become. Writing and playing music helps define me as a young man. I began learning to play the piano at the age of six and picked up the guitar at eleven years old. I dedicate a great deal of my identity to music as well as hockey.
Hard work is the most important quality in my possession. On top of managing a number of honors and AP classes, my love of music, and my dedication to hockey, I am employed and was recently promoted at Wawa where I gain knowledge of the working world of business. Finally, my family is the most important thing to me. I have them to primarily thank for all of my success.
