My name is Colin Freitas. I am a 6'3" 19 year old goalie with the drive and determination to play NCAA hockey. I am currently playing Junior Hockey for the Boston Junior Rangers - EHL. I was selected in the 2018 QMJHL American Draft Round 2, Pick 5 by the Moncton Wildcats. I am a 2021 graduate of St. George’s School in Middletown Rhode Island, known for its rigorous academics which pushed me to not only work hard on the ice as the starting varsity goalie, but to work hard and be challenged in the classroom as well.
As a goalie, you will not see "flash" from me. I have often been referred to as a "patient goalie". What that is, is my calm demeanor on the ice. I have the natural ability to track the puck, and have been trained to be well-positioned and to know where to be in order to read and react to plays and make the correct save choice. I am big in the net, consistent and strong on the puck and am a difference maker in games. My best games are the ones that challenge me most. I have a high compete level and always push myself.
I also think an important thing to mention is my ability to help bring a team together. I am a great teammate and good in the locker room. I like to compete and win, but I also like to have fun while doing it. Most important, I am coachable and eager to continue to learn and develop. Anytime I have been challenged or given the opportunity to play at a higher level, I have pushed my self, learned along the way and succeeded.
I trust the Universe has a plan for me, and look forward to my future of playing competitive college hockey alongside my continued education.
