I started to learn how to skate at 8 years old. At first, I was on and off with skating lessons. At 9 years old I began to take skating seriously, and I tried out for my first team at 11 years old. Having started so late, pushing myself with help from my family was the most important thing I could do in order to catch up to a level where College or Junior Hockey was a viable option later in life. When I started around (9-11 years old,) my father was brutally honest with me... We both knew playing A or AA before my freshman year of high school was going to need a lot of work on and off the ice.
At 13 I left my original club to play at my current (Vikings Youth Hockey). With a new start, I am able to play at the AA level. This season so far has four tournaments, concluding in two 1st Place Wins and two 2nd place Runner Ups.
In school I have tested above the 90% mark for the past 7 years. This year (17-18), my scoring has increased to the 97th Percentile in the Nation. My report cards tend to average above a 3.5 GPA, putting me in the High Honor Roll category.
In the near future, I look to play AAA hockey. After I put myself to that test, I look to play College Hockey at a school which will not only benefit my skills on the ice, but further my knowledge in business studies in order to sustain a plan for myself outside of hockey. I hope that not only am I seen as a good hardworking recruit in hockey, but someone who strives in academics as well.
