I played competitive tennis until I was nine years old. During this time there were not many kids in the area that were at my skill level. My tennis coach suggested I try lacrosse because I had excellent hand-eye-coordination and footwork from playing tennis. Since the first practice, I knew that lacrosse would be my sport & I enjoyed team sports versus individual sports.
I think it reflects upon my character that I, and my parents, have made the decision for the past 6 years to play for different club teams in the Chicago area, which happens to be three hours from our home in Central Illinois. I could have chosen to stay with the local team but, I knew I wouldn't get the exposure or level of coaching as compared to the local level.
Something that I have learned throughout playing lacrosse is that I am very coachable and a lot of practice equals perfection. One of my unique characteristics is perseverance and never giving up. My academic goal for High School is to maintain a 3.3-3.8 GPA. My long-term goal is to play college lacrosse for a school that fits me both academically and athletically.
During my Freshman year, I started 11 out of 11 Varsity Games. I was the first Sophmore to be named Captain for the Varsity team for Lacrosse. Then our season lasted less than 1 week before we had to cancel our season due to Covid-19. I am looking forward to playing for DHS this Spring.
