Being a goalie in lacrosse can be one of the most mentally challenging positions in all sports. Each goal you let in can affect your mentality, which is why it is so important to be mentally strong in goal. As I continued to play goalie and playing at higher levels, I've improved my mental game a lot. I remind myself that I can't save every shot, if I let one in I tell myself I will get the next one. Being mentally strong allows me to stay focused on the game, and helps me keep my defense focused and calm. My mental strength was challenged a lot this past year, my high-school's first year having a varsity program meant a lot of new players. Two of my starting defenders had never picked up a lacrosse stick until this spring. I had to step up and be a leader for them, as every goalie should. When things went wrong I had to stay mentally tough, and not get upset with them, rather bring them together, explain what happened, and let them know that we got the next one.
I want to find a school who is a good fit academically, and athletically for me. Through all my lacrosse experience I've learned leadership, and how to step up when my team needs it, I've learned the importance of hard work and dedication, and the drive to want to be the best I can possibly be. I feel in the time I have in high school and playing club lacrosse, I'll be able to develop the talent and character needed to earn a spot on your team.
