I am a wrestler and a lacrosse player. I wrestle because it keeps me in top competitive shape and helps make me faster and tougher for the lacrosse field. Lax is my passion and my dream is to play in college. My goal is to attend college and earn a degree in criminal justice so that I can pursue a career in law enforcement. I was selected to attended the Massachusetts Junior Police Academy last summer and was elected Platoon Leader. I have also been selected by the US Marine Corps for their Summer Leadership & Character Development Academy in Quantico, VA (July 2018). I am very proud of the Marines' leadership program because they choose less 100 of the country's top student-athletes from an applicant pool of close to 10,000.
My best talents on the field are speed and a feel for the net. I was named Captain of my high school team as a junior and have been the scoring leader for the past two seasons. In the first six games of this season, I scored 25 goals. What gets me most excited is when I have to be physical to get the ball, use my speed to outrun my competition, and open the field to set up a scoring play for a teammate. Off the field, my greatest strength is my family's closeness and work ethic. I grew up in a highly athletic family and my brother and sister both play college sports (baseball and soccer). My mother is a fitness instructor and my father played professional baseball. Working hard and competing is just part of who we are.
I try to bring a mix to my teams - leadership and support, confidence and humility, and intensity and humor. I would be honored if you would take a deeper look at me for a spot on your team!
Thank you for your time and consideration - Jack Ferrara, Captain Eagle Hill Varsity Lacrosse, Class of 2019
