My love for the game of lacrosse came at a very young age when my mom signed me up for a pre-k sports camp when I was 4 years old. Each day we were introduced to a new sport and on day 5 we played lacrosse. I told my mom that it was my favorite and after we left camp she drove me to Sports Authority and bought me my first lacrosse stick. I played on the recreation team in first grade but my career as a goalie started when I was in second grade. I met our goalie coach, Scott DeCarlo who was a Nutley High School alumni and a record winning goalie. Scott had returned a few years earlier to his hometown of Nutley after serving in the United States Army as an Army Ranger. He began to work with the high school and recreation teams and he became my mentor and my friend. Scott worked with me and I remember him telling me that I was very talented and that I would break his record of saves someday in high school. I loved playing goalie and Coach Scott taught me so much both on and off the field. Coach Scott taught me how to respect people and to always look a person in the eyes when speaking to them. Scott passed away suddenly at the very young age of 30 and I was heartbroken but I learned so much from him and to this day I remember everything he taught me that I take with me both on and off the lacrosse field. I believe that I am a good leader because I can take a player who may be having a bad day and help him focus on the game. I have the ability to be able to communicate effectively during the game assisting my teammates with positioning and how they communicate with each other. I was a varsity goalie my freshman and sophomore years and I look forward to another successful year of lacrosse as a junior. My team since I've been the varsity goalie has tied the high school's all time winning season. It's always been a dream of mine to continue my career as a lacrosse goalie at the collegiate level. I am excited to discuss recruiting and my academic future with colleges and universities.
