I have been taught that although I love sports, academics always come first.  Lacrosse became a favorite sport after I had my 1st practice in first grade and I found a special desire to be as good as I possibly can.   I am very thankful that a parent was able to start a lacrosse program where I go to school for kids in elementary school when I started.  Delayed reward and being a team player are two important terms.  Delayed reward means that if you work hard enough good things will come in the future, while being a team player means treating your teammates with respect and making sure their heads are always up.
