Hello, my name is Jacob Crenshaw and I am a Jr. at Hammond School in Columbia SC and I have a passion for sports, coaching and kids.
Growing up playing sports I have always strived to be the player my coach wants me to be and the player my teammates believe me to be.
My greatest accomplishment has been to receive the Kettle Award which is based on sportsmanship on and off the field and dedication to the team. It is usually reserved for a Sr. but I received the award as a Sophomore. When I asked the coach why me? He said: "There was never any question, I played you in every postion and you never complained, you only wanted to be on the field, you are the most coach-able player on the team". This is when I decided the path I wanted to take.
Another accomplishment was for the coach. I am left handed but shoot right handed. He challenged me not to use my right hand. Needless to say, I over embrassed my left hand and began to shoot better left handed. Since that challenge I have been able to shoot both left and right handed.
Hammond School has instilled in me a committement to academic excelllence with opportumities to learn with unique activities outside the classoom These opportunites have challenged me to become a better person in body, mind and spirit.
A scholarship would not only help to fianace my tuition, books and any other educational expenses but would allow me to further my education so that I might be able to make a difference for an individual player or and entire team, my family and my community.
