I was drawn to rowing because I really like competing with people who push me whether they are my teammates or competitors. I am a driven athlete and team member, supporting others through humor, encouragement and healthy competition. I diligently attend every practice, and train in the off season. Last season, my efforts helped win Southwest Regionals, and a 3rd place finish at Youth Nationals in the U17 quad.
I am excited about the freedom to explore my academic interests in college while continuing to develop as a rower. I bring the same work ethic to my academics as I do to rowing. I am drawn to data and problem solving fields. I am currently studying calculus, physics and finance. Last year, I chose take the AP exams even though my school does not offer the courses, studying independently for AP World History and AP 2D Art and Design. I scored fours on both, and I learned skills which I will use to do even better this coming year on the AP exams. As a person I have the drive to succeed both on and off the water.
