My name is Ben Knudson, and I am a rower. I started rowing in junior high to get closer to my older brother, who was rowing in high school. I found a true love for the sport, and I have never looked back. I row for three main reasons. First, I love to push myself in a safe environment every day. Being "in season" is my favorite time.... every day, 6 days a week, we have our plan and we go hard against that plan. I structure my off season very similarly, so that I have that daily big push of effort with teammates. Second, I love my rowing team and community. We row together, we lift weights together, take extra erg time while a good movie is blasting, and we have fun together. It is the best group of people, and we all have each other's backs. Finally, I love to compete and I love to WIN. There is nothing better than charging after a goal, working hard, and then giving it 110% to win. My goal is to find a great D1 college to be the best lightweight rower I can be... train, compete, and win.
I take that same mentality and apply it to school as well. I take all honors classes, I work hard, and get good grades. College will be my next step for rowing and academics, and I cannot wait to find that best match.
