After pushing off the jetty for the first time 4 years ago, I became obsessed with the sport of rowing. It has consumed the majority of my life and thoughts. It has been both a sport and a get-away or distraction. When I need a relief from the monotone ordeals of high-school I would go and escape in a rowing boat. Although I enjoy the peace of casual steady state rowing, I love to race. The thrill of exhausting the body in order to move the boat as fast as possible becomes somewhat therapeutic. The desire to perform drives me.
I want to become the best possible rower I can be and will do my best to ensure this. I believe in "teamwork makes the dream work" and thoroughly enjoy spending time with friends and family. I am strong academically and produce great marks in my favorite subjects. I am hardworking on the erg and always enthusiastic to be on the water no matter the conditions. Rowing has been the perfect influence over my life, especially as I develop during my teenage years, as it has taught me so much about myself and life.
Apart from rowing I find myself playing fairly competitive field hockey and a prominent member of the school band. I have been a top achiever in my high school having come top 10 in my class on numerous occasions. I also achieved 75% on the national math's Olympiad paper 1. I achieved the school's Academic Honors award after having earned my colors award twice and merit award every term since I started high school. I did AP mathematics in 2021 but had to drop it as it no longer suited my time schedule and was an external subject that was not a part of my school's offerings.
