I got involved in crew after I injured my shoulder throwing shotput my Freshman year, after some urging from my friends. It was intimidating attending the 1st practice session, but after that, I was hooked. This is my third year rowing with Moorestown, the commitment and focus needed to succeed as an individual and as part of your boat resonated with me and has helped me grow as a person on the water and in school. I have been challenged during my time on the team and learned you need to be mentally, physically and technically strong to progress as a rower. The confidence and drive Crew has given me over the past year, has pushed me past being happy to make the top boat last year to working towards being the best rower in the club.
The hard work and commitment I have put in over the 3 years have made me a better rower, individually and as a teammate, helped me to improve my form and times and become key member of our Varsity Eight boat.
Crew and school commitments keep me busy, but I have had time to get involved in our Prom committee, Environmental Club as well as pitch in with stage crew for our High School Theatre productions. Also for the past 3 Summers I have volunteered as a camp counsellor for our local Parks department Summer camp, and with the volunteered with the local soccer club lining fields during the season.
The camaraderie of your boat and the club is something I love being a part of, and I appreciate what I have learned from my high school crew experience and can't imagine not rowing in College. I want to continue to row in College at a school that fits my academic goals and with a program where I can be a contributing team member.
