Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Harman Bumbra and I am a 2027 lightweight rower. Currently I continue to row in Advanced Community Rowing Association (ACRA) located in Ringwood NJ. I am part of Montgomery High School located in Montgomery NJ and I am a Freshman. I am currently taking IPELS Honors and Algebra 2 CP which are both very high courses. I hope to continue my academic goals and bring my GPA up as I go. I am working to my goal of Eagle Scout in BSA for Troop 46 in Montgomery. I continue learning Piano to build discipline & maybe one day play in a big place.  I started rowing during the times of COVID-19 during end of summer 2021. Originally Rowing wasn't the best, It felt hard and I wanted to quit. As I grew and got to know my team and friends better, I realized with commitment, dedication, and discipline I could do something great and enjoy rowing. I can admit that in the beginning it was painful because I hadn't really done any sports before rowing and making my stamina & power was hard. After some really hard talks with my Head Coach, I finally realized what I needed to do and worked as much as I could to get where I am today. At the age of 13 I participated in the U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals for U16 Coxed Quad. Although we did not do good, I am glad we were able to get into a National Category at only the age of 13 for an U16 category. Right now some of my goals include by the end of winter season (April) to get my 2k down to around 7:30 at the age of 14, reach out to coaches, set up some summer camps, and continue to improve my strength. Rowing overtime has become my favorite thing to do no matter how painful each day can be. I hope to continue rowing in college in a NCSA Division 1 College to continue my competitive dreams and continue to enjoy the sport I love. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile, that is all as of now.

Best Regards,
Harman

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
