Harman Bumbra '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

My name is Harman Bumbra, and I’m a rising junior (Class of 2027) at Montgomery High School in Montgomery, New Jersey. I row year-round with the Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA) as a lightweight athlete, and I’m here to introduce myself and express my strong interest in rowing at the collegiate level.

I began rowing in the summer of 2021 during the pandemic. At first, the sport felt physically overwhelming—I had no prior athletic background and wasn’t sure I would continue. But over time, I found a deep love for rowing. Through hard work, honest conversations with my coaches, and the support of my teammates, I’ve grown immensely, both mentally and physically. Rowing has become my passion, and I’m committed to improving every day.

One of my proudest early experiences was competing at 2023 U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals in the U16 coxed quad scull at just 13 years of age. Although the results weren’t ideal, it gave me invaluable insight into high-level competition and fueled my drive to succeed.

2024 U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals was 2nd year where in I rowed U16 coxed quad scull. This time I was much stronger and experienced. 

Most recently, I competed at the 2025 U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals in Sarasota, FL, where I raced in the U17 Eight and placed 7th overall in the A Final. This experience reinforced my determination to compete at the highest level and continue pushing my limits.

Currently, I’m focused on dropping my 2k time to 6:45 by the end of this summer, participating in competitive camps, and building my strength for the upcoming fall season. Academically, I’m enrolled in challenging courses like Pre-Calculus and German II and am working to continuously improve my GPA. I’m also pursuing my Eagle Scout rank with BSA Troop 46 and studying piano as part of my personal discipline and growth.

My goal is to row at a competitive Division 1 program where I can continue to push myself in both athletics and academics. I would be excited to learn more about your program and would be grateful for any advice or opportunities to connect.
