I began rowing at the start of my grade 11 year and from my first time picking up an oar I have had one goal in mind - to win. The sport of rowing has taught me that through hard work and dedication my goals will always be within reach. I joined rowing weighing in at 205 pounds and with blood, sweat, and tears I dropped 50 pounds to now sit in the low 150's. No matter the day, rain or shine, I pride myself on always being the hardest working person on the water, on the erg, in the weight room, and even in the classroom. I always try to lead by example and inspire those around me to also improve, and be the best version of themselves. I am a coach-able athlete who is open minded and always willing to listen to technical modifications to better my performance. Rowing has taught me many other important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and time management as I balance my training and academics. I want to row in college/university to compete and win at a higher level while simultaneously pursuing my academic career. I want to be part of a competitive program filled with like minded people so I can further push my athletic capabilities to the next level.
This summer my crew and I have been selected to row for Team Canada at the Mega Worlds (World Rowing Championships 2024) in the Men's U19 4+. I am very excited to be representing my country in this event!
I received my diploma this June and this fall I will be taking a 12B year (gap year). During this year I will be taking more elective courses at my high school that interest me and completing a co-op. I will also be continuing to work on my rowing technique, my strength and conditioning and my erg score. Stay tuned!
