I picked up this sport in my junior year of highschool with no previous experience. I quickly became fascinated with the sport, spending hours watching film and learning proper form. I became very involved with my team, helping load and unload trailers for regattas and spending time outside of practice tending and caring for the shells. As a new rower with previous athletic experience, I adapted my weightlifting background into applying power in the boat. I also volunteered for my club’s “Learn to Row” camps, where I spent the summer of my junior and senior year teaching youth about rowing and the nature of the sport. Through the last couple of seasons, I have found a deep passion with the sport and I have graciously been given the opportunity to compete in some of the nation’s largest regattas. Some of these regattas include the Head of the Shuylkill and the Head of the Occoquan, earning myself 9th in the Head of the Shuylkill and 3rd place in the Head of the Occoquan in the Mens Jr 1x. I now plan on continuing to row in college and I am ready to adapt to new challenges that I may face rowing at the collegiate level.
