A significant influence on my life has been growing up in a military family. I grew up with 4 Army parents, two Drill Sergeants, and two Jumpmasters. They have always been very strict with me and held me accountable for my athletics and academics. The values of self-discipline, hard work, and leadership have been instilled in me from a very young age. I began to play soccer at 4 years old but I realized I was born for the sport around age 6. As a military kid, I have had to move several times therefore learning to quickly adapt to new teammates, new coaches, and styles of coaching and play have been something I’ve learned to adjust to. This has been beneficial to me because I have always taken the best of every coach who’s mentored me. Despite several difficult times in my life, I have always had soccer to maintain my focus. Some of my short-term goals include maintaining a 3.0 GPA and pursuing athletics in college. Maturing has helped me realize that natural ability doesn’t matter but persevering through adversity. Through the game of soccer, I have learned more about myself, and connecting with my family background has aided me in achieving my goals.
