Ruben Rivera '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ruben Rivera, an attacking midfielder with 14 years of soccer experience, including 10 years of club, 9 years as a captain, numerous high level tournaments, including Barcelona, Spain, and 3 years of high school varsity.  In addition to soccer, I’ve played football for 7 years, and 4 years of high school varsity at running back, kick/punt returner, kicker, and safety.  I ended my high school career ranked #2 all time in points scored in a career, #2 all time in points scored in a season, and #2 all time in yards rushed in a season.  I also run track where I have multiple top 3 finishes in the 400m, 200m, and relay events. Soccer became my biggest passion at a very young age. Once I was able to walk my Grandpa had me in the backyard training with him and of course I was put into a soccer team as soon as I was old enough. I love the game of soccer. It helps me get through problems in life, and is my way to just feel free and be able to compete on the field. I pride myself in my work ethic,  my vision and intuition on the field. I have been noticed by my coaches for having lots of heart, and giving it my all. My ability with the ball on my feet, the passes I’m able to give, and aggressiveness on defense really help me be a great player. I am a coachable player who is willing to learn and do whatever I can to take me to the top. I am very respectful, kind, and not a very outgoing person but on the field is most likely when you’ll hear me talk the most.
