There is nothing that I love more than soccer, as it has been my main passion ever since I could remember. My varsity team was recently ranked as a top 25 national program by USA Today, and I had to work very hard to get there. I was often overlooked as a younger player and had to overcome subpar teammates and coaches to achieve my goal of playing for a top high school team. I wouldn’t still be playing soccer today if it weren’t for my perseverance and work ethic that allowed me to reach the level of play that I currently play at. I can say with all confidence that I’m tough mentally and can adjust to difficult situations on the field. I also have a burning passion for goals and winning, but that drive never prevents me from showing respect to my teammates, my coach, my opponents or the referees. I’m highly self-motivated and fully- committed to playing soccer at the college level.
One of my best attributes is my shot, as I consider myself to be a very good finisher. I also have a great tactical awareness of the game, which allows me to make quick decisions with and without the ball. As a forward, I’m aggressive in dribbling, changing directions quickly, crossing, stealing the ball, and finishing under a lot of pressure. In terms of fitness, I run with my team and often on my own to make sure I have strong endurance throughout my games.
I am extremely dedicated to the team and every decision I make on and off the field reflects that. I have had my struggles in the classroom as a student because of undiagnosed ADD and a difficult time when my mother was fighting cancer. However, I am now determined to put those struggles behind me as I know I am capable of much better. My SAT and ACT scores are a better representation of my intellect and potential. I scored a 1260 out of 1600 on the SAT and a 29 out of 36 on the ACT. I am retaking the SAT this fall and my goal is a 1350 and I know I am capable of achieving it.
