Deric French '24 Recruiting Profile

I began my journey as a goalie when I was just 9. After many years of ups and downs, with clean sheets and slaughters, I have learned that this position is the best on the field and the only one I want to play. Being a goalie is more than just stopping goals, it’s about leading the team from the field.  For example, I have come to understand that encouraging my teammates to learn from our mistakes instead of dwelling on them makes us all better.  Focus on how we can do better in the future because there is nothing we can do about the past.  I enjoy learning and improving myself after I make mistakes, not just in sports, but in both academics and life. I love using soccer to focus my attention, keeping my mind and body healthy. I aspire to use the sport to  turn myself into a great man. Using the leadership and teamwork skills I have learned from coaches and players to make myself a better person in all aspects of life. I am a hard worker, positive thinker, and aim to please, so I know I am setting myself up for success.
