Matthew Vroom '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior at Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, Colorado.  Palmer Ridge is an excellent academic school ranking in the top 5% of the nation and 39th in Colorado. I have taken many honors and AP classes.  Unfortunately, I was unable to take AP Spanish this year because the district was unable to secure a teacher for this course.  I have enjoyed being involved as a leader on and off the pitch by serving on the student council and team captain for the last three years at Palmer Ridge High School.  I am also the team captain of my club team.

During Covid we attended school part-time and did online learning for the remainder of the day.  I found there to be a lot of downtimes, so I would hit the field.  I enjoyed practicing my juggling, shots, moves and runs. I also purchased a PowPass machine and started my own business.  I would train other soccer players on their touch and technical skills of soccer.

I have had excellent training from my coaches that have taught and refined my technical and tactical skills.  I am a strong player that loves playing a possession-style soccer game.  I have played and been trained in all positions from defense to forward.  I can easily transition to other positions as my coach needs me during the game to help with an attack or to pull back to support the defense. I love playing holding mid and attacking midfield.  My strength is in my defense because I will not allow anyone to beat me, and offensively I am able to see the passing lanes to advance the ball.

I desire to play soccer at the next level.  I would love the opportunity to better myself on and off the field.  I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about the opportunities your program has for me.
