Eliel Rivera '23 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Sports Coaching and Management while at the same time I continue to play soccer. I have played soccer since I was 5 years old, so I do not know life without soccer. Playing soccer is my passion and having been an athlete all my life and knowing the great physical demand it requires it’s what makes me interested in studying in that related field.

I would prefer to play in Division 1, but an athletic scholarship with more playing time would also be of my interest. My real dream is to become a professional soccer player, but I do know that I have to study and have a professional career as well.

In terms of soccer, I have always been a starter player on the teams, including school and travel teams. My main position is Right Wing / Striker /Forward. I am a team player; however, I have been able to stand out in the teams and be a leader withing my teammates. I am physically and mentally strong which can be seen in the way I play. I am also very fast which helps me to overrun the other players. Having a very strong and fast game are the two most common complements from my coaches and are the two characteristics that mostly help me achieve good game results. I have made many friends during my life thanks to soccer which have made me have excellent social skills.

In terms of academic, I have a GPA around 2.5 which I know needs to get better. I am working on getting my grades up in the hope of improving my chances of getting recruited by a good university where I can achieve both of my goals, a professional education while playing my favorite sport.
