Since the age of four, I have played soccer for Ancient City Soccer Club. Since 2011, I have developed a deep passion for the game. I have gone from being rejected from a travel team to now being the captain of not only that same team, but the captain of the team at the high school I attend. This responsibility is something I am very proud of. As a captain, I believe that to be a true leader one must lead by example. Actions speak louder than words. I always aim to show passion to inspire my teammates, and show them that respect and discipline go a long way. Spending 25 hours a week training and travelling for this sport, I have also been taught many lessons. I have developed the technical and physical skills to play at the levels my child self aspired to play at. I realized that every touch matters when under pressure. However, I also developed mental sharpness, understanding that managing focus and stress is just as important as the physical ability needed to perform. As my high school and club careers come to an end, I reflect and appreciate the lessons I have learned that apply to not only the sport, but to life. I look forward to bringing these lessons and my leadership ability to my next steps as a college student.
