I am a 17-year old senior at South Walton High School in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. I have been exposed to living in several places due to my mom’s job in the hospitality industry. I was born in Puerto Rico and am proud to say that I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish. In 2017 we relocated to Pennsylvania where we lived for 2 years. In 2019 we moved to Atlanta, GA, and have been in Florida since the end of 2019. This has given me the unique opportunity to be part of great soccer teams, and experience different cultures and fantastic coaches which has helped me learn, grow, and continue to reach my potential.
As a proud Puerto Rican, soccer has been a part of my life since I was three years old. My mom shared with me that when I was two and a half years old, I started running with a ball at the park. I joined the Coamo Futbol Club in Coamo, Puerto Rico at 3 years old where I honed my skills and learned the importance of teamwork, dedication, punctuality, and hard work. Since I started playing soccer, I have shown to be a strong forward player with the ability to use both my left and right legs. My mom always tells me before a game “leave your heart on the field". When I moved from Puerto Rico to Bedford, PA, I brought that same passion for the game with me and have continued to grow as a player. I am grateful for the opportunities that soccer has given me, and I am excited to continue representing my heritage on the field.
As a player, I have always sought out new challenges and opportunities to grow. That’s why I was thrilled to be selected to play for the ODP Alabama Soccer Association, where I was able to compete at a high level and learn from some of the best coaches in the game. I was chosen to be part of Chivas Ft. Walton FC Club (NPL 2023/2024 Central FL U-19 Champions), playing 2 years up and most recently, I was honored to be chosen to be part of the Elite Clubs National League Regional League (ECNL RL) 2023-2024 under Florida Elite and now in Coastal Rush ECNL-RL Pensacola, FL. Worth sharing SWHS won Regional Championship, I scored 2 important goals to make it to state. I was also recognized as the best athlete of the week by the North West Florida Daily New. This is a huge accomplishment for me and a testament to the hard work and dedication I have put into my game and that I can deliver under pressure. Additionally, most recently, I attended Pro Tryouts for Futbico in Atlanta in September with nearly 40 players and was selected for the National Showcase in San Diego from December 13-15, which adds to my excitement for the future. I am excited to continue pushing myself to new heights and representing my team and community with pride as a forward/striker player in college and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.
Sincerely,
Jose Colon
