Personal Statement
My name is Philip Stark, and I am a 2021 graduate from Marietta, GA. During my 14 years of playing soccer, I've been selected for and played on top teams numerous times and my teams have won countless tournaments. Although, my team has been knocked out of many important tournaments such as the Georgia State Cup and the annual Disney Tournament. I have grown from all of these tournaments; however, I feel I grew the most from having to change positions. My coach felt that I would benefit the team the most as a goalkeeper, and so I made the change. I've become flexible as an athlete and as a person. I have developed a great soccer IQ that helps me read the game at a high level of play. One of my characteristics as a goalkeeper is my ability to use my feet. I think that one of my best attributes is the love of the game that I have because it gives me motivation to get better. I have been fortunate enough to be on the team that won the Georgia RPL and Southern ECNL leagues, but I want to challenge myself as much as i can. That is why I accepted an opportunity to play for Borea Dresden U19s, located in Dresden, Germany. I am playing in the German Youth 3rd division and competing against some of the best players under the age of 19. I have been blessed with the opportunity to play on some of the best teams both in the US and internationally, but it is my passion for soccer that has developed my drive and sacrifice to be a college level player.
I want to go to a school that is a great fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe that not only do I have the skills to be a college level goalkeeper, but also the flexibility and perseverance to be a top student-athlete and a positive impact on your program.
