My name is Kyan Smith - I am a senior at Mid-Pacific Institute, a private Highschool located in Manoa, Hawaii. I am currently a full IB Diploma Student, but I also have an MPSA Arts Certificate. I play multiple varsity sports such as soccer, track, and volleyball, in which I am captain of the varsity soccer team. Outside of school, my main sport is soccer, which I play year-round with the Honolulu Bulls.
I am a Center Forward. My strength and speed allow me to create dangerous attacking runs to create goal-scoring opportunities, as well as chase down players on defense to win the ball back. My strengths would be my offensive vision, where I can settle the ball and make smart decisions to move the play forewords, as well as my touch and dribbling, allowing me to get out of tight spaces and beat defenders on the move. On defense, my workmate and intensity allow me to get stuck in and make defensive tackles, which helps stop the play before it goes any further. I am also left-footed, which helps me cut in and shoot from the right and hit crosses from the left. Although my right foot is just as proficient. I am a good set-piece taker, in which my coaches trust me in taking dangerous free kicks, or crosses from any side of the field.
Academically, I am interested in studying psychology, or anything to do with a person's mental health. I have created my schedule to fit around my passion, by taking Theory of Knowledge, and Phycology as my HL classes. I am a straight-A student with a cumulative GPA of 3.9. I am excellent at time management between school and extracurricular activities, as I train every day outside of school, and still maintain good grades. I am a very social person and get along well with others, and I would also consider myself a very hard worker. My willingness to take on a challenging high school course curriculum through the IB Diploma program translates to hard work and discipline both on and off the soccer pitch.
