My name is Colin Mcmahon and I am a sophomore year at Naperville North High School. I have been balancing high level competitive soccer for 8 years along with a rigorous course load at a private school prior to entering High School. My goal is to play competitive soccer at the collegiate level at a school with a strong academic reputation. I feel I would be an asset to any team because I will probably be one of the most versatile midfielder for my team. Predominately, I play in as a holding or defensive midfielder but this year I am starting as a center back on the Naperville North High School Varsity team. We completed our state run as third in the state of Illinois and I was awarded ALL CONFERENCE my sophomore season. We finished 23-2-3 on the year and had a 25 game unbeaten streak allowing only 16 goals in 28 games. For my Illinois ODP team I played striker or attacking midfield. I can strike a ball from distance with good power in both my left and right foot. I played out wide for many of my earliest years and I am strong at crossing and finishing in the box. Due to my stature (being 6 ft tall) I am dangerous out of the air. I can win balls in the midfield, defend with aerial play and I have scored many headers off of set pieces for my team. My adapatablily allows me to see the field and I have good off the ball intelligence. One quality that sets me apart is my ability to read and intercept passing patterns. This may have come from 9 years of playing basketball until high school. As a freshman I was named captain of the JV1 high school team over many upper class men due to my positive leadership, work ethic, character and communication on the field. I hope to use my talents, to grow my game more at the next level and be an important contributor to my college team on and off the field. I look forward to this process.
