For as long as I can remember soccer has been my greatest passion. Through this sport I have learned teamwork, discipline and how to deal with pressure.
In general soccer has taught me to be more responsible and has improved my concentration, which has helped me in my school work. Every game I play is like a final for me. I always fight for the ball, forgetting everything that is out there, and I just concentrate on the game. I do the same in my school, no matter how hard it can be I do my best and try to focus on my classes.
I have used the discipline I have learned from soccer in my studies. The more I practiced on the field, the better I would become, like the saying ‘’practice makes perfect’’. Similarly, in order to do better in my school classes, like math, I have to study harder and always do my homework. That’s the routine I need and how hard I practice is evident in my exams.
Also soccer has been my motivation to be better at school because I must maintain a certain grade point average. I have learned that if I want to play I have to study.
The sportsmanship and the respect that I have gained playing this sport have taught me not to be discouraged. Playing soccer I have learned that I will not always win, score goals, or give an assist. There will always be disappointments and discouraging moments I have to deal with and overcome in the game, in the school and in others areas of my life. However, the most important is to do my best and to know that I am part of my team, my classes and my family.
In short soccer has taught me to always be responsible, respectful and never give up until I score my goal or reach my goal whether on the soccer field or in life.
