Personal Statement
My name is Madi Lockridge and I am in the Class of 2021 at Avon High School in Avon, Indiana.
I am constantly challenging myself to improve my all around softball game, through individual lessons, team practices, game situations, and high school team workouts. I enjoy school and travel softball seasons, as both provide a different perspective on playing the game and being able to adapt to the different situations and challenges of both teams. I want to pursue by passion for softball in college and continue to balance softball with academics to become a well-rounded student-athlete. I am currently undecided on a college major, but have interest in Education and Business.
In addition to playing softball since I was 4, I have also devoted significant time and energy to being a competitive cheerleader. I continue to balance school cheer along with softball, and am a two-time Varsity letter winner at AHS for cheer and was selected as a National Cheer All-American in Fall 2018. Cheer has provided me a solid foundation for conditioning, focus, and has helped me improve my overall athleticism over the years - but I only compete now to represent my school.
As a softball player, I am have developed into a triple threat offensive player and have been hitting left-handed for 4 years. My goal is to continue to refine my skills and use my speed and power to be a great bunter, slapper and also to hit for power. Defensively, I mainly play 2B and OF, but can be plugged in anywhere on the diamond, a true utility player who is comfortable filling in anywhere. I feel this makes be most valuable to my team and demonstrates my flexibility and dedication to the team aspect of softball.
