My name is Owen Alack, Class of 2022. I am an A student who is a versatile player who plays Center Forward, Center Back, and Attacking Midfielder. I am a team first player, who was named captain of my high school squad as a Junior. I am the leading scorer for my club team and as a Sophomore, led my high school team in scoring, was second in assists, and named All District First-Team.
This high school season, my coach asked me to move to center back to solidify the back line. While I see myself as more of an attacking player, I happily accepted as I knew it would benefit the team.
I am a hard worker and have learned to overcome obstacles. As a Freshman, I had an avulsion fracture in my hip. That injury side-lined me for the season and helped me to realize that I want to contribute to the team and that I don’t want to be on the bench. It made me realize how important it is to keep your body healthy and ready for competition. Covid-19 has been a setback for everyone. When the season was cancelled last spring and school went online, I took the opportunity to work full time at a refrigeration plant to keep learn new things that will help me in the future. I continued to grow stronger and develop my skills.
Throughout my soccer career, I have been a coachable player who understands the game. I am comfortable playing different formations, different styles, and different positions. I a team player, a leader, and have a determined mindset. I want to participate in a program that will challenge me, athletically and academically. I want to be an integral part of a program that will continue to push me and will lead me to become a better player and teammate on and off the field. I believe I have the skills and talents to be great for your program.
