My passion for soccer began at age six when I started playing travel/club soccer. It is by playing the game of soccer that I have developed exceptional qualities including: being a strong leader, excellent work ethic, performing well under pressure and respecting others in all situations. As an individual, I excel in both athletics and academics.
Leadership skills – I was nominated by my teammates to be captain of our club team for the past 2 years. I work to be a good example and make good choices on and off the field.
Excellent work ethic/Team player - With excellent field awareness and soccer IQ, I can play any position that I am assigned and wherever I am needed. I know when to play through balls or make the simple pass or to take space.
As a defensive player, I can contain any player that is going against me. I know when to go for the ball or wait for the attacker to make a mistake by containing them. My footwork/ first touch sets me apart from other players. Any ball in the air, I can bring down with control. I have good balance with my other midfielder as well as all the other players. I know where to be on the field with every attack or when my defenders build the play out of the back.
Most importantly I will hustle and work very hard. Every time the other team has a counter attack, I work to get back. I was always taught to get behind the ball no matter what it takes. I have good endurance which makes me able to play through an entire game.
As one of 5 kids in our family, I know the importance of pitching in and working together.
I have a good sense of humor, I know when to be serious and I encourage others to do the same.
Confident and good under pressure - As a top player who wants to always get better, I am a consistent starter for our club team. This has helped me be a confident player and to learn the importance of being focused and being able to produce under pressure. I am hard on myself in a positive way. I do not like making mistakes which drives me to always want to be better in soccer and in life. I love to play when games are very competitive.
Respectful to others - By treating coaches and other players with respect, I am able to easily build relationships and earn trust. I’m involved in our school’s FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) huddle which reinforces this with all athletes.
Well-rounded: My hobbies include fishing, hanging out with friends, stock market investing and trading, spending time with my family and playing other sports including travel basketball, golf (Maryland Junior Tour - PGA League) flag football and Varsity tennis. I have been in band, playing the saxophone, for 6 years. I also enjoy helping, each year, with the League of Dreams – which gives kids with special needs a chance to play baseball.
Currently, my GPA is 3.75/ 4.375 (weighted). This year, i was inducted into the National Honor Society. In April 2018, I was awarded the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. I know the hard work I put in school will make it easier for me in the future. I will continue to work hard in everything I do.
My goal is to find a college that will be a good fit for me both athletically as well as academically. As a well-rounded player, excellent student, three-sport athlete and captain, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team. I not only have the talent for a college team, but the competitive drive, leadership skills and character to make an immediate positive impact on your program!
