My father coached me almost my entire time in youth soccer. One thing he instilled upon me was that the one scoring is not always the best player. The best player is one who puts his team in a position to be successful. I take great pride in being able to distribute the ball really well and set others up with opportunities to score. While I do enjoy scoring, I really love being able to see others succeed as well.
I am also driven academically. I have had to work extra hard to get good grades. I know that at times it may take me longer to grasp things in the classroom than it does for my peers. As a result, I have to put in additional time with my studies so that I can continue to remain successful with my academics. During my junior year, I just missed making the National Honor Society. Missing the cutoff upset me and made me set a goal to raise my GPA each grading quarter so that I can be inducted during the fall of my senior year. So far, I have obtained a 3.8 in each of the last 2 quarters bringing me closer to my ultimate goal. Being successful in the classroom to me is just as important to me as being successful on the pitch.
