Personal Statement

My nickname is Xavi (pronounced chaa-vee) on the pitch.

The biggest influence on my soccer IQ is my dad, who is from Suriname, South America. I’ve played on travel teams since I was eight in the DMV area MSI, TFC and Dematha Academy . My family raised me to have fun and love the game, and to develop into my own playing style. I am a passionate team player. I am ready to put in the work to be the best player I can be.

Academically I am fluent in Spanish and have taken advanced math courses since 7th grade. In my senior year I plan to take AP Physics and Calculus B/C.

Feedback 4/26/2022Xavier, I want to start by thanking you for attending our clinic this past weekend. We had a great two days of soccer and really enjoyed training and evaluating the players in attendance. Below are the notes we took on you during the clinic. You are really clean You have good habits for the middle of the field. You always receive the ball across your body and take your first touch away from pressure. You showed good vision with your head on a swivel and the ability to see the whole field. You showed good range in your passing and showed the ability to both connect on a possession pass, and find the penetrating pass into the attacking third. You made quick decisions with the ball on your foot as it was evident that you were seeing where you were going to go with the ball before you received it. Your skill set allows you to do well anywhere in the middle of the field, but we also think you could potentially do well wide, potentially as an outside back who can get forward and even tuck in to help with possession at times.
