Soccer is my lifeblood. Soccer has brought me my greatest joys and some of my greatest challenges in life.
My name is Ethan Hong and I am in 11th grade at Phillips Academy Andover (class of 2022), currently doing a one year transfer year at Dwight-Englewood School in NJ due to Covid restrictions. Combining high level academics with college soccer has been a lifelong goal of mine. I play right/left wing and defense on the Andover Varsity team, where I have been playing since 9th grade (the only freshman to roster on Varsity). I am currently playing with the U18 2003 ECNL Players Development Academy (PDA) (Drogba) in Somerset, NJ as an outside back. Prior to that, I played with the Boston Bolts, 2003 ECNL team as a starting winger. Prior to leaving my home state, New Jersey, to attend boarding school, I played on the U15 US Development Academy team with Cedar Stars Bergen.
Some of my strongest attributes are my speed and agility. I have the pace to catch longer balls played in the air and intercept passes from the opposition. My technical abilities are also an excellent facet of my game, the speed of my footwork sets me apart from other players. Extremely hardworking and coachable, I am considered by my teammates to be an efficient, effective ball distributor who is always putting the team first. As a boarding student at Andover, I understand the importance of community and team, both on and off the field. Living amongst your teammates is an awesome experience and I have learned the value of respect and loyalty.
Born and raised in Northern California, I spent every day playing year-round soccer and brought the love of the game with me as I moved to New Jersey for middle school, and then on to high school in Massachusetts. I am involved in multiple leadership roles on campus that have taught me the importance of responsibility and teamwork.
