Camden Wheeler '21 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Camden Wheeler and I am currently a junior at Rockport High School in my hometown of Rockport, Massachusetts.  I am looking to continue my athletic and academic journey past high school at a college or university that is challenging in both regards. I am 5' 11", 160 LBS, and play the position of goal tender. I have been starting in the net for the varsity squad since my sophomore year, though I did start a few games my freshman year. I was starting goal tender for my high schools junior varsity program  both my 7th and 8th grade years, while gaining my first taste of varsity experience in the 8th grade as well. I feel I would be a strong asset to any collegiate soccer program as I am a strong leader both on and off the field. I am extremely hard working and committed to both my academics and athletics, as well as paying it forward by volunteering in my community.  I have a strong presence in the net, both on the right and left sides, and will not hesitate to leave the six yard box to retrieve a ball when the situation demands it. In the 2018 and 2019  seasons my team qualified and played the Division 4 state tournament, losing in the 2nd round in 2018 to the eventual champions and reaching the semi-finals in 2019, losing to the champions as well. Though 5'11" is not very tall for a goal keeper I make up for it by my speed off the line, ability to read the ball, and my ability to jump, a skill I have honed through my years of playing varsity basketball. I use my experience of playing 3 varsity sports to heighten my abilities as a keeper, specifically my jump from basketball and my throwing/ coordination from baseball. Though I am involved in multiple sports, soccer is my first love and the sport I am the most talented at.
