Paul Carney '19 Recruiting Profile

Dear Coach, I believe I'm an exceptional candidate for your team as I'm an academic scholar, a skilled soccer athlete who has consistently competed at the highest levels, and an influential leader that can make a difference on your team.  I began playing many sports early on and found my passion for soccer and to win.  I've played organized soccer for the past 12 years and have progressively competed at the highest state and regional levels.  For two years, I've played on the ODP MI 01 boys team, attended ODP Region II Camp, won State Championship titles for both high school and premier level, and played on Midwest Regional League (MRL) teams for five years.  Earlier on, I consistently played center back and center mid positions, and got the nickname Paul "The Wall".  My coaches said nothing could get by me.  Then for 6 years I specialized as an attacking midfielder where I was  called "Paul the Play Maker."   For the two years, I've played outside midfielder because of my increased speed and accurate crossing ability.  For two years, I was asked to specialize as an outside back for my defensive strength and speed in driving up the outside for many scoring assists and goals.  For one HS season, I was asked to play center back as senior caption to lead the back field.  For 7 years, I've constantly lead each team I've played for in assists and am consistently in the top 4 in scoring.  I'm also proven to be a corner kick specialist that produces goals.  To date, I've also never missed a PK in competition.  For the past 4 years, I am Grade 8 US Soccer referee and volunteer as a youth coach to players in my area.  I hope to continue my passion for winning in soccer by playing for a great coach at a great university.  Thank you for your consideration.
